Mycelium New Music Presents "Picture Whimsies"

mycelium new music presents a performance at Fulton Street Collective which explores connections between music and poetry. The program centers the premiere of a new version of Bobby Ge's Picture Whimsies, which celebrates the intersection of visual art and music, paired with readings by Chicago-based poets. The performance will also feature works by Chicago-based composer Ania Vu and ensemble members Paul Novak and Jonathan Hannau.

Mycelium New Music Debut Concert

In its debut performance, Mycelium New Music presents a program of new and recent works which center identity and experimentation. Composer and avant-folk vocalist Annika Socolofsky, praised for her “unbearably moving” (Gramophone) music, joins the ensemble in a performance of her song cycle of "feminist-rager lullabies for a queer era." The program also features new and recent works by emerging composers Seare Farhat, Grace Ann Lee, and Christian Quiñones.
