Between threads and glimmers was written in close collaboration with Quatuor Diotima from 2021-2022, and in this piece wanted to highlight their expressive range, intimate playing, and soloistic facility. The piece opens with phrases of delicate, high, and melodic chords interspersed with varying durations of silence or extremely quiet held tones, from which melodic lines and flickers of motion begin to emerge. As the texture grows, constellation of activity, density, sparseness, and stillness flow fluidly between each other. Lines and shapes come in and out of focus, and allows for a journey of shifting energies. Between threads and glimmers was written for Quatuor Diotima and was premiered in April 2022.
